TME, project partner of the european project DEWTECOMP: Developing an innovative induction welding system for aircraft fuselage parts.
Door surround structures (DSSs) are complex parts of an aircraft’s fuselage. To obtain highly integrated DSSs and be able to weld assembly clips on stiffened panels, the EU-funded DEWTECOMP project aims to develop an innovative and efficient induction welding system.
The goal is for the system to achieve a structural bond between reinforcement parts (gussets, wedges, fittings) and structural frames. The design will include supporting tools, automated devices, heating systems, end effectors needed to weld DSS frames to DSS fittings and clamping methods to ensure contact between welding surfaces.
The system will be based on CETMA – European Research Center for Technologies Design and Materials technology, also coordinator of the project.
DEWTECOMP is a 26-month European project that started on 1 May 2020, funded by the Clean Sky Joint Undertaking under the Horizon 2020 Programme.

Techni-Modul Engineering selected for the INNOTOOL 4.0 project.
For complex shaped and high performance CFRP structures the metal moulding tools currently in use are complex, heavy and expensive. The project aims to develop robust, wear resistant, lightweight, low cost tooling with integrated dynamic controlled electrical heating system, that is suitable for high pressure resin injection processes and complex shaped products

Success story !
On May 10th, 2017, Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) inaugurated its first automated RTM (Resin Transfer Molding) production line designed and realized by Techni-Modul Engineering (TME) at its Tel-Aviv site. The event was attended by the management of IAI, their final customer, TME and many guests.
The introduction of this new production equipment will considerably increase the competitiveness of IAI, in particular by improving cycle times, quality, repeatability and accuracy while reducing the final price per part cost.
This automated RTM production line integrates a robotized draping / preforming station (cutting table, robot equipped with various grippers allowing lay-up fold by fold directly into shape on a 3D mold as well as compacting, trimming and control by camera) and an RTM molding press with tooling and injection system. This automated line will make it possible to carry out operations previously done manually: from the unroll of the material to the final injection of the seat. The operators were trained locally by Techni-Modul Engineering to use this new working tool.
IAI’s Commercial Aircraft Group, designs and manufactures business jets, primary aerostructures and landing gear, servo control and actuator systems for major international OEMs.

From September 26th-29th will be held the third edition of CAMX. Created by ACMA and SAMPE to connect and advance all aspects of the world’s composites and advanced materials communities, CAMX is an all-encompassing event. Regardless of the application —transportation, aerospace, marine, wind energy, software, construction and infrastructure, medical, academics, sports and leisure —CAMX is the must-attend event for products, solutions, networking, and advanced industry thinking.
Composite Alliance Corp., subsidiary of Techni-Modul Engineering in the US, has been selected as finalist for the 2016 CAMX Awards for its robotized preform cell. The CAMX Award recognizes cutting-edge innovations and innovators that are shaping the future of composites and advanced materials in the marketplace. This year, two rewards will be awarded: «COMBINED STRENGTH » et «UNSURPASSED INNOVATION ».
Composite Alliance Corp. competes in the category “UNSURPASSED INNOVATION” which includes 12 finalists. This award is presented to the composites product that clearly demonstrates a novel design that incorporates low-cost materials for high-volume applications or with high performance applications with low-volume materials which delivers a product that is innovative and has the potential to either significantly impact existing or open new markets.
The CAMX Award winners will be announced during the CAMX General Session on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at 8:30 AM at Anaheim Convention Center.

The Clean Sky project
Techni-Modul Engineering is part of a strong consortium called Opticoms (Optimized Composite Structures for Small Aircraft)
Opticoms is composed of the Piaggio Company and different partners: IAI (coordinator), Coriolis, Danubat and TME.
The Clean Sky 2 project will deliver break-through technologies for incorporation into the next generations of aircraft from 2025 onwards.
The objective is to research and develop technologies for more affordable composite aero structures with focus on cost effective existing materials and improvement of production technologies for a later full composite wing production.
In “OPTICOMS” we want to lower costs, improve technologies and adapt to low volume wing production.
